    Hungry Catfish Question

Multi's are social fish, really better kept in a group rather than as a single fish. More likely to compete successfully for food that way too.

    Syn Petricola

Actually, multi's and petricola are egg scatterers. Multi's are most often housed with mbuna or peacocks as hosts, and spawn at the same time as the cichlids. Kept alone they will simply scatter their eggs, but eat them soon after spawning.

    Syn Petricola

A bowl of marbles with an inverted flower pot (w/hole in side) makes a good breeding setup for petricola. The fish will swin in through the hole in the side of the pot and spawn, the eggs will fall into the bowl of marbles. Best bet is to have 2-3 bowls on hand, and change them out daily to...

help with calicium buildup on glass plse!

Surely you have filter media in an established tank you can use to seed the new setup.

    Syn Petricola

If the parents haven't eaten the fry by now it isn't likely they will. Petricola eggs are tiny, and w/out a bowl of marbles for spawning the eggs and hatchlings are likely to be eaten rather quickly.

    Big Surprise...

I recently moved the 6 of them into the 90 with 3 breeding pairs of cutteri, REALLY didn't want 500 fry. From what I've read about their adult size I presume they're big enough to spawn now. I had been feeding them endler's regularly before I moved them into a 55 to pick off the excessive brown...

What size tank are you wanting?

Available for sale for May meeting

Hmm, I'll keep that in mind the next time I want to cull several hundred ramshorns from my 30L BN breeding tank. I've shipped out more than 12 oz of them several times, too many of the buggers to go First Class Mail.

Available for sale for May meeting

I heard somewhere that you have pleco caves? Sizes and prices? I just got young groups of L-340 and LDA-08, and already had L-134's and L-333's that I should be getting some suitable breeding caves for soon. I have some larger slates caves already, but the only smaller ones on hand are actually...

WON ProHeat 300w titanium heater FAILURE

All the Stealth heaters have/had a lifetime guarantee, that's why I have so many of them. I thought they'd be more reliable than the visitherms, but apparently not. Marineland should still cough up a refund for the older style as well, or else replace them with glass visitherms.

WON ProHeat 300w titanium heater FAILURE

I've had 2 of the old-style 250w Stealth heaters turn bad in the last month. The first one was in a 33L, cooked some little cichlid fry but didn't seem to bother the BN or endler's. The other was just last week in a 40 breeder, raised the temp to about 84 but no harm done. I'm thinking to...

    Air Pump

How big are your tanks? The Whisper AP pumps are designed for deeper tanks, will pump a good volume air several feet down. In shallower tanks you could easily split one outlet 3-4 ways and still have enough pressure for sponge filters.

    BN cheek odontodes

All BN have the cheek spines regardless of sex.

    Air Pump

How big of an air pump are you wanting? For running sponge filters in 4 tanks each I like the Whisper AP 300's, very quiet dual-outlet pumps that push a lot of air. The AP 150 is similar, but only has one outlet.

Not so common Giraffe Cat. Help Identify

Not sure what the proper species name is, but there is another smaller recently imported/available species of giraffe catfish.

What are you bringing to the Feb 19th meeting?

Assuming the OP has 2 ears (not to be corny... :p)

What are you bringing to the Feb 19th meeting?

I do have extra 1/8" hinge and backsplash strips if you have the glass for the cover. Otherwise, a versa-top for that size tank isn't very expensive, Foster&Smith has them for $16. If the tank is a Perfecto it won't fit though... I'll have a 29 with a hood/light available next month if I hook up...

What are you bringing to the Feb 19th meeting?

Around 6-7", nearly the same size as my Synodontis eupterus (though not nearly as fat.) Still showing good definition of colors, they tend to wash out when they get really big.

What are you bringing to the Feb 19th meeting?

Likely some brown BN pleco juvies for the auction, and probably this guy that needs a better home w/some buddies:

    January Availability

Cool fish, and cherry barbs are mellow little critters if I remember correctly. If I didn't already have so many red fish I'd be tempted.
