BN cheek odontodes

Do both males and females have odontodes?

I have 2 BN plecos and one is obviously a male(pronounced bristles and cheek odontodes). The other does not seem to have bristles, but does have cheek odontodes. Is the second one male or female?

All BN have the cheek spines regardless of sex.

The big difference is that adult males will have a more pronounced ridge down the center of their face.
