I had a Blast at the Meeting!

Lively, I am tickled your daughter won the tank and the shrimp.
I also had fun with making someone else feel bad about bidding against her. lol All was in a fun nature. Its great having kids there and they were well behaved yesterday. I think I counted 11 Children at one point. May have missed a few. I try to walk around and get a head count during the talk a couple times.

She's a bit of a diva, that one. Really loved the attention of the crowd laughing when you poked fun at the filter winner! Originally, I thought I'd bid for her but then decided she should do it herself. I did my first auction at her age with my dad - he let me bid on a camera, I lost - but I loved it.

I told the girls if they didn't behave I wouldn't bring them back - they know I don't make idle threats... lol

I appreciated that :)

With all the fish available - the club should open up shop! Over here - in VA where there are so few LFS's!

had a great time again at this months meeting

i personally prefer wings but pizza was tasty

thank you to paul loiselle for an informative and entertaining presentation (turns out i have three fish that are now extinct in the wild) so i am now on a mission to try to get them to breed

thanks again to all who make the CCA the best

You know there are other alternatives for meals for big parties:
1) 50 Pack of hamburger patties; cook em on the grill outside or pre-cook b4 meet. Can get the patties @ sams/costco.
2) KFC chicken big buckets
3) Maybe a 50-100ft sub from one of the local deli marts
4) Spaghetti is always a good choice b/c there are so many different sauces you can make and the noodles aren't too expensive.
5) Sandwhich station is probably the cheapest (bologna and cheese, ham and turkey, etc.. Buy the large packs from costco or sams)

On another note sounds like everyone had a great time! Maybe one of these days I can fly with the fishes to make it up there but I don't think I can fit into one of those boxes :)~

I have to be honest I couldn't believe how many items there were at the auction. The variety was great. There were victorians, peacocks, plecos, central and south american, cats, and even silver dollars. I didn't have any intentions on buying anything but when I heard rock kribs (uganda) I couldn't resist.

I had a great time !! Thank you to who ever brought the little tangs... they are happy in a 50 gallon.

It's been a while since I wanted something that was in the auction...

I stopped by scales afterwards.... hadn't been there in a while. Some nice L144's !!!

I've lived in WV for 5 yrs now, and the ONLY time I wish I lived in the "City" is when I read these "after meeting" threads every month... I am so envious of what you have and it kills me every month reading this. Hopefully if all goes to plan I will be at next month's meeting, I don't care what's on the menu, all I know is I'm looking forward to being surrounded by people that speak cichlid.

Pat, would it be possible for me to pay for 2 yrs worth of memberships next month? I don't know if I'll make another meeting this year, and it could be well after Jan before I can come again. I know I'll be able to come back sometime next year, if not again this year. I've got a 10 yr old that is really interested in cichlids and I would try taking him to a meeting to see how he does, but my 8 and 6 yr olds are cichlidiots for about 10 minutes at a time. There's absolutely no way they would be able to sit thru an entire meeting without getting us asked to leave. Until my wife is off on Saturdays, I'm pretty much all booked up. I would still like to be a member and not have to worry about my membership lapsing before I can get back.

I'm glad to hear everyone had a great time and can't wait to experience CichlUforia for myself. Not that I didn't have a good time all day with the kids, it would have been better tho if the lil scoundrels would have let me win atleast one game of baseball on the wii :(

You don't live that far from me - I'm outside Hillsboro, VA about 10 minutes up Harper's Ferry Road. It's not a bad ride in - I feel for you about the kids... maybe we should get a temp. growout tank going for future meetings... toss all our fry in there :)

Lively, still not very familiar with the area but it's good to know there is someone else nearby... It seems to be a cichlid dead zone around here. I can't wait for next month!!!

Zrad, great photo's!!! Pretty cool to see some of the faces. Looks like Pat might have taken disco lessons back in the 70's... GO PAT!! GO PAT!! GO PAT!!

Nobody has ever been asked to leave because of their kids. This is a young club with lots of young people with plenty of young kids. If they want to make the trip I suspect I speak for most of the club when I say bring them. They will not be tolerated, they will be enjoyed.

George (yes, me)
