    Order Pending

I'd like to replace my pair of plagiostoma spiney eels. Are there any available?

    Plywood fishtank 140 gal.

Looks good, though I'm surprised you didn't drill holes for bulkheads for that size tank. Any plans to cover the screws on the front with trim?

April meeting / what are you bringing

It figures, I just received a group of 1" fry last week. Any pics of the father? I have a 36" brown hood/light to bring along, maybe some more endler's and BN juvies.

    Invertebrates by Msjinkzd OPEN HOUSE!

I'd really like to, but I don't know what's going on that day regarding work and/or the family. My grandfather just had a pacemaker put in, and will be in the hospital the rest of the week. I'll have a better idea the week before.

    L-10a fry pics

The 2nd (pics above) and 3rd spawns were smaller, and disappeared within a few days. I turned the breeding tube rack around so that the male didn't see anyone walking past the tank, thinking maybe he was getting too much disturbance. It seems to have worked. The 4th spawn was another large one...

    Time to buy new bulbs

You can always try several different types of bulbs to see which one/s you prefer. The 6700k and 10,000k are more useful for plants, but if you want a more natural color/look from the fish the daylight bulbs are good. It's just a matter of what looks good to you. Some folks like colored gravel...

    50/50 bulbs for Plants?

I use either 6700k/10000k (1-piece dual bulb) or 2 6700k bulbs for FW plants. The actinic won't do anythng for them at all.

What are you bringing to the March meeting

I'll be bringing some endler's and juvie BN pleco's, an assortment of hob filters and powerheads, a handful of acrylic hex rod, and whatever else I find to throw in the truck tonight.

    FREE REPLACEMENT STEALTH HEATERS

    FREE REPLACEMENT STEALTH HEATERS

The new ones with the "cool" LED have been known to explode, literally. I have one of the new Pro models, and used a piece of plastic canvas to make a cage for it in case it goes ballistic. One person lost a whole tank of SW stock because there's copper inside the heater that blew.

    L-10a fry pics

I'm learning to appreciate the Panasonic more since I picked up a Canon SLR. I can't get any clear pics with the Canon in macro mode even with manual focus. Fortunately, the fry are progressing better and faster than my camera skills. They're about 1" long now. Here's a couple pics taken last...

What are you bringing for the Auction at the Feb meeting

I'm planning on bringing a couple bags of hornwort, whatever duckweed I thin out my tanks, and a handful of acrylic hex rod. The hex rod is 9/16" diameter, and can be cut to fit for replacing a center brace or used for a variety of other things. Also some old parts and pieces that I have lying...

    SLR questions

I'm wanting to upgrade from my Panasonic Lumix FZ5 point-and-shoot to a digital SLR. My main complaint with the Panasonic is the lack of manual focus and shutter speed settings. So far I've only looked at Canons, and have been wondering what the difference/s are between the Powershot and Rebel...

Dollar Store Silk Plant - Safe?

I used silk plants for years, no worries. The wire inside will eventually rust, but it never seemed to cause any problems. Compared to the cost of artificial aquarium plants there's no contest. Silk plants are great for simply providing cover or sight breaks. Not exactly show tank material, but...

    L-10a fry pics

My red lizards are spawning now, and if they're like the BN will likely keep going for quite a while. I tried hatching the first few eggs in a net breeder. It worked, but the fry disappeared after a few days, presumably died and were eaten by the ramshorn snails. Here are some pics of the 2nd...

    what catfish species?

I have yet another new spawn of BN, looks like another brown batch though. Sooner or later the red females are going to get into the game with the red male/s. I also have an uncounted number of L-10a fry coming along. They apparently just became free-swimming last Friday.

What are you brining to the Jan meeting

What do the jakes look like? They're my favorite peacock, but I'm not crazy about the lemon variety.

What are you brining to the Jan meeting

I've been wanting to try some since I read that they'll live in aquariums (provided they aren't eaten) and consume debris. I'm thinking they'd be good for stirring the sand, particularly in my pleco tanks. Naturally, I want some for live food as well. Any idea of the number of worms in 1 lb?

What are you brining to the Jan meeting

Will anyone be bringing live blackworms?

What type of heater do you use.

Never tried the candle under the tank, but I once ran across a reference to a really old aquarium publication containing an article about "The evils of open-flame aquarium heaters."
