    wet dry filtration

Bubbles are finer in SW. Look at the airstones in your LFS in the SW tanks and the FW ones. :)

    wet dry filtration

Protein skimmers don't work well in a FW setup and they aren't typically necessary. The bubbles produced in FW are not as fine as in SW, so you don't get a good bubble column to skim the sludge. They also aren't as necessary as FW fish by and large are not as susceptible to harm from nitrate...

    Dues / Renewal

It's against the paypal user agreement to charge a fee to a customer for using paypal. A switch to paypal wouldn't affect me as it's no trouble for me to hit an ATM before the January meeting. They usually have twenty-dollar bills in there. :) I just mention it as an fyi. The loophole around...

    wet dry filtration

Welcome to the Club! I've been using them for years and have built several. I wrote a long article for The Biotope a couple years ago that gave step by step instructions and a price list. Pat may be able to get you a copy or I can see if I can find mine. I might even have the article saved...

I find that there is not enough contrast with the blue font on the aqua background. Even with my contacts in. :D

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (SF_Beast @ Jun 13 2008, 02:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div> Yes, I probably have 20 at that size. Not sure if I can make today's meeting (kid's birthday), but if you are interested, let me know how many you want. I'll bring to the meeting if I make it, or we can...

March Meeting Of The Cca: Items people are bringing for mini-auction

I'm bringing the stand I built last month and the canopy. It will fit a 20 long or 29 on top, and a 20 high or 15g on the bottom. Club donation. If anyone has tanks that size laying around, it would be a good time to get a member a full set up.

    Span Lengths In Stand Constuction

Yup, that's right Bobby. The 2x rule is just an easy way to remember what you need for larger tanks. If you were doing a rack of smaller tanks, the parameters change.

    Span Lengths In Stand Constuction

In my presentation on standbuilding at February’s meeting, I forgot to cover one thing I had in my notes – span lengths. The stand I built at the meeting was the first small tank stand I’ve done. Usually, I build stands for larger tanks, 4-8 footers, or multi-tank ranks. For those...

    210g Diy Stand And Canopy

Someone requested yesterday that I post some pics of the stand and canopy I did for my 210g. Here it is. Please remember I have no artistic skill! I think the cabinet doors should be redone in a 4 door configuration and I want a bigger crown moulding for the canopy. The design is essentially...

    February Meeting Of The Cca

I had a lot of fun speaking. Great audience too. I know I pushed the envelope on time. I'll have that stand fixed up for the next auction. You have to admit it was a great demonstration of how to crack wood! We all know how much work our officers put into each meeting. I got a...

    My Diy Background

I made one of the concrete backgrounds. It came out so-so as I got tired of carving the styro. I did learn from the experience. Instead of siliconing the styro, I siliconed some magnets inside the styro. I then put magnets on the back tank glass. No need to silicone the background to the...

    "©" Means You Need Permission

I know you didn't want a legal discussion Bobby, but I think you may be understating your point a bit. It's been nearly 15 years since I took intellectual property law, but if I remember correctly, all original work is copyrighted, even if it doesn't have the © on it. It's a common law right...

    Bioballs Compartment(box)

Robert - Clean out your in box! :D Thanks for the bloodworms. Hope the box works for you. It's a tight fit for the tank. If it won't go easily, try putting a little vegetable oil on the sides to make it slick. The only flaw I found in it was that I wanted a second tray for filter floss...
