I tried to find a container to use for my 40L and had no luck. It's a narrow tank. I ended up building the sump that I wrote about for the club journal last time around. I have an acrylic box that I was using for the 40. It's not pretty but will do the job and hold enough bioballs for a 300g...

If that pic is of a male without females in the tank, what does your new male's breeding colors look like? Also, there is a social comment to make about leaving three females in a confined space without a male for a long period of time and then having a spawn the day after a male is added...

Too bad. I'll still keep my eye out in case any fry make it. I figured since they were nocturnal and my tank has lots of large rockpiles they might be able to avoid the cichlids. If Julie gets in any more large ones, let me know as breeding them sounds fun.

Any chance these guys would have any fry survive in a community tank with cichlids? I assumed not, which was why I wanted to get another pair from Julie to put in a tank with smaller cichlids. But maybe I'll just let nature take its course in my large tank.

Happy holiday everybody! We're headed to NY for the weekend. We'll be 25 miles from Atlantis so we're going to visit on Saturday. 40,000 gallons of cichlids. I think the kids may have to leave their suitcases at my aunt's so that we can fit the styros in the car on the way back...

I'm happy to be part of the dark side. There are some benefits to being a fan of the less common or exposed species. It's like a really good secret.
