I might be in OC that weekend, but if not I'll try to make it. I've seen plenty of fish lately, but it would be a great place to pick stuff up if I want to start a CA community tank.

I saw some cool stuff on Batfish Aquatics' list that has already tempted me...

For those who have never attended a PVAS auction, it is well worth the trip. Great lots, great folks and a heck of a lot of fun!

PVAS auctions are a good time, and usually have a pretty good selection of stuff you don't see in the CCA monthly auctions. Lots of livebearers, bettas, plants, and other community type fish.

The Spring Auction attracts many buyers and sellers and is literally an All Day Auction. If you really want to bid on a particular item, you can pay to have it bumped to the front of the auction line.

They generally have food and drinks available too.

Just reread the end of Jesse's post and realized it wasn't news, but oh well.

Definitely an awesome selection of non rift lake fish and plants.

What is the tag sale portion of it?

It is a lot like the CCA member table at the market place. Probably about the same amount of livestock, but it will have a lot more dry goods(lights, filters, food, etc).

The tag sale has items that are marked with a price that can be purchased at any time during the auction. I think the prices are discounted as it gets later in the day, but I am not positive.

That is correct. I think the schedule and amounts may be slightly different, but the process is the same as what was done for the CCA table.

What does PVAS stand for? Tank heaters and filters available? Where can we get access to a print out or list of things available so we can determine if we want to make the trip?

PVAS = Potomac Valley Aquarium Society

The stuff will be listed on mygroupauction if I'm not mistaken. You have to add them to your affiliations.

Looks like it will be a good auction.

Yeah that is just the start :)

The list is less than 200 of a usually close to 1000 item auction/sale.

The mini-auction usually have little in the way of cichlids, but the bigger auctions tend to attract more. There was a post on the PVAS site mentioning:

Angels
Red Devil
Cutteri pairs
H. Nicaraguensis - sub-adults

If you are able to help out at the auction and have an account on the PVAS forum, the volunteer thread is here:

http://www.pvas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=5575

If you don't have an account or it is easier send me a Private Message and I can get you added. It looks like the big needs are runners and corral staff.

Looks like a decent list already. I signed up to help run on the PVAS forum, but not sure what time I'll be there.

Tony and I will be coming, I'll help out where needed.
