Chris - that spicy chili rocked!

Well done!

Is anyone AGAINST a voluntary donation jar?

Matt
That would be OK but I'm not sure what that would do for us. I just bring stuff. Even if you had lots of money in the jar there would still be the burden on someone to bring a bunch of stuff with whatever is in the jar. It just works better if everybody brings something. It would be like everyone pitching in instead of some buying their way out if you see what I mean.

If there was a jar I would throw some in it but that doesn't change what I just posted. Who is suppose to do what with whatever is in the jar? If there is three bucks in the jar do we all share a bag of chips? It is a good idea as a concept Matt but I think you can see what I mean. It just isn't enough to have a jar.

Hi George,

I agree that the jar alone wouldn't be enough...but it would allow visitors to contribute...and it would provide a few bucks toward the general cause.

Another approach is to get sponsors. I talked to my local Trader Joe's and - although they can only provide one donation / group per year - they've agreed to provide stuff for our summer picnic...and also next year's ACA... Someone (probably me or Tony) will have to pick stuff up from them but it doesn't come out of anyone's pocket...

Any other ideas?

I think that we should make Chris make chili every month - that stuff was awesome!

Erright, my 2 cents...

Chris, your Hot Chili was excellent!
Usually when people "try" to make something hot they fail because they add too much heat and/or there are no other flavors.
I actually tasted the peppers in the chili...nice going Chris!

I hear you Matt. I was agreeing and hoping to start discussion. I know I don't always do that. I want the jar but want to set up some better way to make use of it. All pitching in is good and all working together is good too.

I like the ACA thing. Some of you may know that the Outback connected to the hotel donated food to the PVAS Catfish thing. The hospitality thing at the ACA is generally Thursday through Saturday nights. I haven't been over to the hotel yet, but some of the restaurants in close proximity could be approached about snack donations in exchange for a little ad either in the program or on the bulletin board. Great idea Matt.
