What did you do to your tank(s) today?

Did a 80% water change on my 72 bow, 30g, 10g and set up new 30g. I still have no idea what's going in there. I have got pool filter sand as the substrate several pieces of driftwood and some swords and crypts.

That 30g is a open canvas waiting for a master piece to be painted on her, oops starting to sound a little like avatar. I missed the sept. meeting was hoping to pick up some cories mabye some apistos. Just not sure where I want to go with it? Always open to suggestions.

'Cos you spent valuable time boiling leaves.:)

The method I utilize for oak leaves is to rinse them and drop them in the tank. In a couple of days they drop. In my opinion, boiling causes them to break down faster and make a mess. Not so bad if you have shrimp or plecos to eat them, but for aesthetic purposes rinse and drop is the best way to go.

Yeah... I have had some really crappy luck with parasites and fungal infections in my tanks. I tend to be *very* overzealous about disinfecting stuff thats going in there now... probably way too much.

What do you have already? What species do you wish to work with now? Of couse, I mean species that would work within those 30 gals. :)

Where there's life there's hope.

Have a lot of rapidly maturing juvenile Apisto species from the CCA Convention that I might consider thinning out if you decide to go that route.

I have yellow and austrialian rainbows, bolivans rams, GBRS, geos Alitifrons, SA tetras of several types. I got a 90g I am going to setup as a planted tank for young adult discus. What do you think about angels in that 30g never done those. I have some pics I going to attemp to put up so you can see what I am working with.

I think you should take Sam (Avatar) up on his offer for the apistos. A 30 gal would probably be good only for a pair of angels.

Yes! Please post pics. Get a photobucket account if you don't have one already.

Angels can live in smaller tanks...

...they just don't do them justice once they get big as they're clearly more comfortable beyond a pair in a larger space being as they're fairly snarky in a con-specific sort of way.

This is a good thread for motivating me to do stuff with my tanks. Changed about 50% of my 150 and about 20% on a couple of my 15s.

That's hot! Are those vallisneria giganta or subulata? See if you can find a tall piece of driftwood that wood (pun) take up the tank. Your hardscape (driftwood, rocks) should take up about 2/3 of your tank, height and width. Is that just plain pool filter sand? Do you have a nutrious substrate under it or are you using root tabs to feed the plants?
