Bobby,
Did you also find problems with the web-site? The home page only says you need to be registered, "no later then Oct. 12th," and you only see that, mail in was due by Oct. 5th if you scroll down, which there is no reason to do so, the way the page is set up. Who is in charge of this, and can help Bobby and myself?
Thanks,
Daniel

Well, as it turns out, the check was no good. Even though it got there in time.

But only because the idiot who wrote it, failed to fill it out properly. :spanka:

However, I think I'm still registered though.

The check is in the mail.... :scared0016:

I understand the reason behind the pre-payment for the Buffet Dinner is to account for all the people, but I am quite sure there will be a bunch of us who don't have time and would want to pay everything at the door.

I believe you have to facilitate those who are consumed with work and family and understand, we might not have time to prepay everything and now we have to miss the Dinner.

I know that those who are involved with running the whole thing are already registered and everything, but that is not my responsibility and I just won't have time to Pay Pal. I am going to just register at the door and just miss out on the buffet, that's to bad, I would have liked to have been there, but now forget it.

I will be at OUTBACK STEAK HOUSE having a beer.

See ya.

P.S. Don't give me that excuse that I could have been on Pay Pal while writing this letter cr_p@!

Sorry.
Thats why I kept posting and sending out reminders. The cut off for the Saturday food is, like most events, set by the people providing the food. In this case the Hotel.
Just like my company party (which happens to be the same night) cut off was today so that my boss could tell the place how many people would be eating.
In July, my son got married. I had a big cookout catered. I had to give a final count the week before.

No one is here to punish anyone.

The only thing that is not accepted at the door is the Saturday food. The food for Sunday is still open because it is not provided by the Hotel.
We still take the registrations for the speakers and fish that day.

As Pat said, everything except the Saturday meals can still be paid at the door. There is a mail in cut off date to make sure the all registrations have time to make it through the postal system. That way you don't show up Saturday and say that you paid but "the check is in the mail". We were pushing for everyone to pre register for the fish show because we are borrowing racks and tanks from PVAS and wanted to know how many of each to pick up (they are stored 2 hours away) and we did not want to make multiple trips.

Shouldn't even be a "controversy" just need to make some small ajustments when we do this again. To make things a bit clearer, the complaint wasn't about there being a cut off date, whenever you have food catered the caterer needs to know before hand the number of people there are serving, and has a cut off date so as to having the correct amount of products. The complaint was the placement of cut off dates, which can easily be corrected the next time we do a show.
And yes, in not much more time it took to express your anger about using PayPal, you could have registered for the banquet. Now you will miss the company of your fellow club member (and we will miss your's), and worst you will be unable to hear "Kingfish" speak. Sometimes there is a last minute opening because someone who has preregistered is unable to attain, find out who is charge of the banquet (another suggested change would be to have a list and contact information, on whom is in charge of what) and let them know that if an opening becomes available you would like to fill it.

OK Bobby give, what do you have, a picture of Snoop Dog on your checks!

Thanks,
Daniel

I, personally, hate using Pay Pal and would much rather use Visa/Mastercard directly. I don't trust PayPal at all (and don't tell me its safe, cuz your NOT going to convince me).

However, next show there might want to be a certain number of "at the door" spots for the banquet, given on a first come first serve bases. I mean, add say.... 5 or 10 spots to the banquet and hold them for late registers or people paying at the door.

Later!
Amanda.

Yeah, I hear you. Just that credit cards seem harder for the organization. You have to have accounts with mastercard, visa, amex, etc. Where Pay pal is the big thing on the internet and we only need one account. Personally I hate going to sites where I have to put in my Visa number and expiration. I know two guys at work where someone got their number and ran up the bill. I guess its the same but still I have problems that way myself. Everyone thinks differently and has different experiences.

I guess the biggest problem is the fact that if no one bought them at the door, we would have to pay.

Anyway all good discussion for the next time (if there is a next time).

Now lets have some fun.

A few notes:

1) I hate PayPal.
2) It doesn't matter - they don't care.
3) The solution is to register a low-limit card w PayPal (not your bank account or debit card) so you can only be ripped off for so much $; or keep a separate account and only put the money in needed to pay for something.
4) I intend to have LOTS of fun.
5) Beer doesn't sound bad either - perhaps some Jim Beam in the socks.
6) Someone could dress up as a waiter and eat to their hearts content.

Can't wait to have my but whipped by DH. Can you give steroids to fish??? :D

Paul.
