Looks like not too many planning?
I have never been to this one. If some one goes, take a few pictures and
give us a short story about it for the Biotope.

If anyone is on the fence about attending this event, I highly recommend it for cichlid folks. I went last year and if it wasn't so close to my due date I'd be going again. At the auction last year I got my breeding pair of t. snyderae for $12, and the day before I got 6 of Ken Davis's Serotheradon lohbergeri at a mini auction. There's no way to tell for sure of course how the lots/bidding will go this time around, but last year there didn't seem to be many cichlid folks there. Some great fish going for very little money.

I go every year, the speakers are usally pretty good and the auction has some good deals if you can stay late. I sell fish out of the boxes on Saturday and run the rest thru the Sunday auction. It's a 7 hour drive for me, but very worth it. I've always made a few $$ on my fish. It's not allways a sellers action, but sometimes prices stay up for a while. Ken

I do not plan on that one. One year maybe.
This years plan for me is:
ACA July
Catfish October
OCA in November

Hi,
Dennis and I will do something for the Biotope.
We will take lots of photos.

This is our 1st fish road trip. I can't wait.

What is ACA?

We are going to
Catfish October
OCA in November
We are going to take fish to show.
We are going to have to get tips and help
on how to get our fish ready and what to take.

The ACA is the American Cichlid Association annual convention.
Each year it is in a different location.
I have been to
Cincinnati Ohio
Denver Colorado
Fort Worth last year.
This year is Chicago. It is one of the big for Cichlids.
4 day event.

The OCA is the Ohio Cichlid Associations annual convention.
All Cichlids, and a fun time.

Tips, hmm, I see another article that I will need to write.
Hmmmm

The amount of fun at any convention depends on what you do as much as the
convention its self. My first one was good but I did not talk to any one or
try to meet people. Each one after that seems to be more fun because of
the people you meet and talk with.
Just my opinion.

Pat hit the nail on the head. The first OCA and/or ACA I went to was just about the fish and it was OK, but as I continued to go I met more people and now it is about partying with old/good friends as much as the fish. It seems lots of the same people always go.

So try to meet people if you go. We are all fish nuts so there is lots to talk about. Never been to Raleigh though. I'll have to pencil that in for next year. Anybody know if selling fish out of your room is OK at the Raleigh event?

George

We had a great time at Raleigh. The talks where great!!! Dennis took notes
so he can write some thing for the Biotope. I have an idea about a fun topic that I might write about. Pat let us know when you need the articles by.

The auction was good.( Long we left at 6:30 and they still had 4 tables full of things! )
Dennis wants to set up a dwarf cichlid tank. He as going crazy over the amount of good looking fish he could have bought . We are going to try to get the tank set up and running.
So keep us in mind if you are looking to sell some in about 4-6 weeks.

It was cool to see some members PVAS/CCA ! We made some new friends.
We came home with a new discus from Hans! Our new fish is doing good!

Make any articles in microsoft word and send them to
Francine as an attachment. She would love to have every thing
set up in advance of the next issue. I sent two last time so she
could stockpile one for future use. Right now I am about 1/2 way
done one on "getting ready to show fish". Thanks for the idea
last week. ;)

Pat,
I can't wait to read "how to get ready for the show."
When do you need the article by?
Let me know so we can get them in on time /
maybe a little early.

The earlier the better. That way Francine can decide which articles to use in which
issue. The next one is due out in April I think.
