Hi everyone,
I live in Kitchener, which is in Southern Ontario Canada, about 100 kilometers west of Toronto.
I have been keeping tropical fish on and off since I was 12, but I really stepped up my commitment after joining the Kitchener-Waterloo Aquarium Society in 2002.
I have 9 aquariums with African and South American cichlids, characins, cyprinids, rainbows, corys and loaches.
So what cichlids are popular in the DC area ?
A couple of years ago, a breeder from your area, Discus Hans, came here to our annual convention to talk about, what else ? Discus !
In my area, the water is very hard and has a high pH, so African Rift Lake cichlids are very popular.
With some modification of the water parameters, many here are able to keep and breed Discus, Severums, Angels, Acaras, and a variety of Central American cichlids
