Hi folks,
New here, but not new to the hobby. Got my first tank when I was seven (which was 1959) and have kept with the hobby, other than a five year hiatus, since. I currently have four tanks at home; the smallest is a 5g with what is probably the oldest Aphyosemion Striatum female in the world, a 10g with a breeding colony of Galaxy Rasboras, a 55 with three Bahia Red Geos, a couple of adopted blue gouramis and a rescued Syno Decorus who didn't play well with the others in the big tank. The big tank is a 150, with a breeding colony (23) of Tropheus Chilanga, (thanks, Julie!) a breeding pair of Julie Ornatus Yellow, and a heap of rambunctious Synos. I kind of can't keep from buying them.
I also do tanks at the school where I work, and the kids love the fishes. Set up a 55 in the front office, with lots and lots of plants, three fantail goldfish, a pleco somebody couldn't keep, and an ancistrus that would NOT leave her niche in the fake driftwood in the classroom tank in June.
Just plopped the whole thing in there. Got another tank at school with more Galaxies, and I'm seeding tanks in more classrooms about every week. Did have somebody tell me about the Fruit Tetras she'd bought, and I had to clue her in on that procedure. But the tanks are a wonderful thing for inner city kids.
Blah blah blah......
Anyway, I'm glad to be here!
