They are 2" pipes and are doing fine. I think I might clock it down a hair. I decided I am going to go ahead and install a valve on the right side to slow it down a little.

Also those returns that are actually in the tank are temporary. I have actual outflow pieces just havent cleaned them and put them on yet just if anybody looks at that and wonders why it looks bad.

Do you all think 1550 gph is too much flow on a 250 gallon tank? It's 6.2x turnover rate. Based on what I have read I think it's almost perfect. Some people prefer less, some prefer more. I think I am going to leave everything as is and then if need be I can lower the flow rate on the Mag 9.5...

I dont understand what you're saying here. Can you elaborate? Ha I totally forgot to do that. When I was doing my test run it was trying to siphon both times i cut power. It never did as the level dropped below the return lines. I will add this in.

True. But the sumps are connected so they do not need to be at the same flow rate. Either way, I got the tank filled all the way up and the left side is still like 1/32" higher. It is ridiculous that such a small amount makes such a difference. There is literally water sitting on top of the...

But the overflow box is the only thing that would reach the valve anyways, maybe 6 gallons. How would a ball valve help a leaking tank? The water all flows into the box. So worst case it does leak and I lose about 6 gallons of water on my floor and maybe a broken water pump. If 100 gallons is...

Got it setup. Still working on the filtration stuff now but it feels good to have it in place. When I built the stand it was 1/4" unlevel. When I set it up down here it was 3/4" off. I had to end up putting an entire 2x2 board under the right side because it just sinks into the carpet a little...

No photos, but I messed around for a few minutes today cleaning pumps. Obviously I am a little skeptical of the pumps that came with the tank due to the condition it was in. However I read a lot on reefcentral and those guys swear by vinegar/water mix in cleaning pumps. So I setup a 5 gallon...

You can also see in the last pictures that I also got the styro fitted on the stand. I got the stand leveled off and ready. Also I plugged one hole on each overflow box with the pvc plug things at home depot. I also siliconed them just to be sure. The previous owner had these plumbed as...

Yesterday morning I tried to tackle the task of moving this tank from my garage to my basement. I built the cart it is sitting on with 2x4 and some 5" swivel wheels. I was not really sure if it would hold up, as it had already broken once when we picked this tank up. With just myself and my...

I'm still here trying to finish this thing. On Wednesday I got the sumps down in the basement and put in some glass to make them more of an actual wet/dry and not just a tank. I might have to play with it a little once it gets up and running but I think this should do the trick. Water simply...

The stand is now in the house. I will try and get the tank figured out this weekend. Still would need bulkheads but I will at least get some of the sump work and plumbing setup. I have no idea how I am going to move the tank inside, It's on a cart I built, but the middle wheels already stripped...

So i drove all over yesterday looking for paint and finally ended up at Sherwin Williams as I was looking for a black base, not a white base with tons of black dye. So I got 2 quarts and was a little nervous about having enough. But let me say this. WOW. I got two full coats of paint and used...

It is actually a GC tank and stand. I got $300 off and pretty much got them to move it for me. Unfortunately I had to do all the cleaning and repair.

Another Update: Molding is on and done. You can see where I had to cut the vertical molding. The original stand never had base molding, but I think it gives it a nice symmetry to the top of the stand which has a 4" molding also. As you can see I have put it up on cinder blocks to prep for...

Thanks for the info, it is very thick. I had some on my arms and fingers. Unlike typical paint, this stuff was like a "goo" and it bonded to my arm hair like super glue. So I did cry a little removing it. J/k

The outside will be refinished and painted black. I am going to try to just paint over whats there. The good, I guess is that the current color is a stain. So there is no coat or paint that sealed it so every surface is still wood rough to the touch. So I am HOPING that I can use the current...

I know it is risky, but I think the benefits outweigh the dangers. I used the Kilz Premium base coat sealer. I went with this due to it's waterproofing and mildew/mold resistance. It's almost as if I triple proofed the mold out. I sanded it all down, I cleaned it with mold cleaner, then...

Small Update. I noted previously I had all the support braces up but never put photos up. I was out of town all weekend so I am now sealing and painting the interior of the stand. Once complete I can move on to cleaning and painting the exterior. Then we should be ready to move it down to the...
