Well I suppose I should introduce myself. Was going to wait until I had something more to say, but...

I live in Martinsburg, WV and work at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD - yes I like to drive. Well at least I'm willing to drive a lot.

I've had tanks off and on with the last being a 125 gal. plant tank that I gave to a friend when I moved from Iowa.

Started watching the show Tanked (which my wife now says she regrets letting me) and got the fever back. Tested the water out of the spigot and said it was higher Ph and kind of hard. Didn't want to get back to the R/O thing so looked around to see what would work well with the local water.

That turned me to African cichlids, so have been researching a storm. Interlibrary loan is your best friend and have read through the first 20 years of the ACA back issues (actually up to year 2002 now).

I have a 55 gal, 33 gal. (same footprint as a 55, just not as tall) and a 20L that I've been working at setting up. Hoping to have them cycled in time to see what the Eastern Auction coming up has to hold for me. A 225 gal. is on the list of things to buy, unless I can figure out how to swing a 300 sometime in the near future. The fishroom is a plan in my head.

Thinking of some shellies for the 20L, Neolamprologus or Julies for the 33 and haven't fully decided on the 55. I know Calvus will be in there sooner or latter.

Anyway - planning on trying to get to the next meeting. Takoma Park is a longer drive and they really need a rest area at the 270/495 interchange for me.

Looking forward to meeting some of you all,
Andrew Scheppler

Welcome Andrew! I hope you can make a meeting soon. Our last full meeting is in November. The next get together is a holiday party on the same second Saturday of that month.

Welcome!

The meetings are in Wheaton, not Takoma Park (although perhaps you are thinking of stopping by the Montgomery College campus in Takoma). Still a longer drive, but I didn't want you to end up in the wrong spot.

Welcome :) There are a few Tang keepers around these parts :) So, you should be able to get the fish you want at a great price :) Along with meeting some great people!

Consider doing an all male Malawi & Victorian Mix for your 555 Gallon Tank. You can get the most of the color of these fish that way. Check out my web site: www.cichlidsarespecial.com. In addition to the fish I have for sale, there is several pages of advice. The talk at this meeting should help as well.
