Using iodine help

Flowerhorn

Members
Hi all. Well i got my flowerhorn a month ago and since getting him he had ich and hex which I resolved with salt high temp for the ich and Epsom salt 3% water mixed with food for the hex

They both did the job but then yesterday I noticed a sore by his tail fin. When I put it on another forum they told me it was an old entry wound for an anchor worm. And that I should used iodine to heal the open wound.

Well I did and where the iodine was places his fin went white and today I noticed the tip of his fin and been eaten away from the iodine. Can anyone confirm this or tell the best course of action to take now.

I added pics before and after

It sounds like this flowerhorn was particularly well cared for before you got him.

I'd go with big regular water changes and a product like Melafix imo. Have never used iodine to treat fish before so am not sure of dosage, but know it's poisonous in larger amounts.
