Tell me about Pelvicachromis kribensis

For anyone in the market, Londontowne has a ton of WC P. kribensis dehane and P. taeniatus(?) right now. I got myself a pair of the former. I overheard Andrew talking about them at the October meeting but I wasn't sure of his tag on here/didn't want to DM the wrong Andrew by accident. That aside, I have a general idea of their care but just want to hear from other people to make sure I'm doing it right + get tips on how to be more successful with breeding them. I've had kribs before but I'm a inherently more cautious with these since they're WC. They weren't too colored up at the store but behaviorally they were fine at 7.5-7.8 pH so that eases my anxiety a bit.

Hi, I am the Andrew that you are thinking of. The dehane at Londontowne came from me. They are a mix of two different spawns from the wild caught parents. Between the white sand and blue background in the store tank, they don't show much color. Keeping them on a dark substrate with a dark background will show off their red coloration. I live in Frederick and use tap water with no alteration to the ph. Feel free to reach out if you have additional questions.

that's good to know since I am also in frederick. I've given them some leaf litter so hopefully they appreciate the extra bit of acidity. I figured you were the right Andrew but just wanted to be sure lol
anything special to get them to spawn or do they just kinda do it?

I gave them a few pleco caves. They keep using the same one. I find if I skip the water change by an extra week, that usually triggers them to spawn right after. The tank is lightly planted with anubias and has wood and rocks. There are a group of congo tetras in the tank, which is a 40 breeder.
