Spawns

What is everyone keeping that they are trying to get to spawn? Maybe we can all help each other.... or diversify what we are trying to spawn so this club and area have an even better selection.

At the moment? I'm not TRYING to spawn anything. Every time they spawn it takes that much longer to get the tanks rearanged.... However, I have things spawning whether I want them to or not.......

I've got the Astatotilapia Caliptera spawning, some Mbunas spawning, some Convicts spawning, some Peackocks spawning, some Angelfish trying to spawn, some Bolivian Rams trying to spawn, and what looks like a wild Discus pair forming. Plus a few othes that I don't have the names for right off hand....

I'm also really curious as to what everyone else is doing.....

Later!
Amanda.

I usually want all my fish to spawn, not for any true kind of profit but for the satisfaction of accomplishing a personal goal. (I hope that makes sense) At the current time I am trying to breed tetracanthas, apistogrammas, neolamroplogus sexfasciate Gold (I would like to spwan the blue sp. but you have to crawl before you walk lol), moba fronts, koi angels, various tetras, and some salt water clown fish.

I want all my fish to spawn as well ! And really try to help them spawn :)

In all honesty... not to be too full of myself  Every cichlid I am currently keeping has spawned at one point for me. I want to purchase some new tang cichlids so I am challenged again. I like the challenge. So, right now I am working with my cats that I have not spawned to keep my interest high. After the wedding, I will get some new stuff ... looking for more sand sifters :)

Come on !!! I know there are more of you than 2 people that are trying to spawn cichlids :)

Josh... I would love to spawn the Blue variety as well. Maybe some day I will try them out.

I am going to try and spawn Cr. sp. "Xingu I". I ended up buying the 10 pikes that Francine had Julie bring in (we were pretty sure the Orange Santareum were going to be Xingu's). I need to grow out the little ones and hope for a nice male to go with the 2 females I already have. From what I understand, you can count the successful aquarium spawns of this fish on 1 hand, so it may be an uphill battle.

I'm hoping to spawn the Hemichromis sp. "Guinea I" that I recently got from Julie. They're pretty good size (~2.5") and appear to be a male and female.

I've kept H. "Guinea II" or "simballa" and still have a large female (the male of the pair died earlier this year of internal problems), had them act like they were going to spawn several times (tubes down, etc.) but never did. The only other person to spawn them in the US said that unlike other Hemichromis they spawn in caves (a flowerpot with a hole in the bottom and the large end covered).

Guinea II took a long time to reach maturity (about 2 years), so I'm hoping Guinea I is quicker!

I also have several Gymnogeophagus. I've bred rhabdotus and other similar fish, but not gymnogenys or labiatus. They spawn best coming out of a cool period (winter) in the spring.

I have several species of dwarf pikes that I would like to spawn again. Now that I have three species of severums, I like to get the other two to spawn. There are several species of non cichlids that I hope to get going as well.

Right now there are too many fish and not enough tank space.

I'm trying to get my Geophagus to produce live fry. I've had 3 different pairs lay eggs. but no fry yet. I had some Salvini in the same tank I know they picked off some eggs. Hopefully I will have better success after I move them out.

What geo is it that you are trying to breed Kevin? I've always liked them :)[/b]
The ones that are currently spawning are Geophagus sp.'Red Head Tapajo'.

They lay a ton of eggs but I can't get the @#(&%!s to hatch!!

Unless of course you are a CCA members sig. other.... then that makes sense ! The fish get more attnetion than them!!! HA HA HA HA !
