Pool Filter Sand

Looks like you have some java fern there? If it is you dont want to bury it in the sand like that. Keep the rhizome up out of the sand.
Also to grow plants more than algae make sure the light bulb is a daylight spectrum around 5000k-7000k.
I'll try not sure they will stay put otherwise. Any plants youd suggest that are fine being buried in sand.

Any type of cryptocoryne should be fine. Just place a root tab near it since the new pool filter sand substrate wont provide any nutrients for the plants.

You could tie or glue them to a rock, piece of wood or old piece of coral to keep them in place. The coral will increase hardness of the water though.

Looks nice, just make sure no sand gets sucked into the AC110 intake, it will mess up the impeller. You can put a sponge filter on the intake.
