It's been some time since and we've got a lot of new users and members. I'm curious to know how many of you guys are keeping catfish. Come on...list what you have. How are you keeping them? Are you breeding? Tell us about your experiences and methods of breeding. Share your secrets!

Show me yours and I'll show you mine!

I don’t have any catfish at this time, but with all of this talk about them I would like to get a few. When you have the bug as bad as I do then you are always willing to add a new fish/tank or two lol. What are some good recommendations for a few 20 and 30g tanks? Julie told me I could pick some up at this Catfish convention (off of Rt. 198 this October). Anyone planning to attend?

LOL…I just seen for the first time the post by Pat on the Catfish Convention after I posted this reply. :smashfreakB:

ok I'll start.... because I want to know what cats Francine has :)

P. Typus

Albino Bushy Nose
Calico Long Fin Bushy Nose

I have spawned both bushy nose pleco's in tap water in a 20 gallon. P. Typus I adjusted their water to 8.2 with baking soda and they were spawned in a 20 gallon as well. L270.... well they spawned and I saw eggs but they kicked the eggs outof the cave. I keep them in tap water with some drift wood I got from Mikey :) So they like my water... it's just learning how to trigger spawning and how to condition them.

I don't keep my cats with cichlids.... that's just me :)

I cant wait for the catfish convention. I'll be there and this time I'll actually go into the talks  instead of drinking too much beer in someones room ! HA !

I fear the L 260 will never breed.
Still small plus I only have one. Makes it harder I hear.

But how can you drink TOO MUCH beer. Eventually you passout so you can't drink TOO MUCH beer. :angel2:

I am looking forward to seeing EVERYONE at the Catfish Fest. It should be fun. It would be a good idea to drink the same amount but AFTER the talks. :FIREdevil:

Hmmmm.....

I have....

I have these little black ones with white spots.

I have these big green ones with black spots.

I have a different color green ones with white spots.

I have silver ones.

I have tan ones with black spots.

I have these pinkish orangeish ones.

I have these brown ones with long fins.

I have these brown and tan scribble ones.

I have a question to ask: Can you guess what species they are?

I have a warped sense of humor today.

Later!
Amanda.

So does that mean you don't know what they are? In that case... :addpics2:

Or you really want us to guess? The guessing game would have been an excellent game as another topic in Plecoland. Oh oh! You've just given me an idea! :D

In this strand, I want to know what members have, how they're kept and such.

Hard to breed when they are small!

If you sell it, market it as a 'solo breeder' someone will pay a premium for it.

<span style="font-family:Comic Sans MS">ok... one day at work, I had very little to do, so I went on planet catfish, and tried to identify all the catfish I had on hand at the time. I've tried to delete the ones I no longer have, and added a few I've gotten since. I'm sure there are still more downstairs than listed here... and more to come in!!

Lol.... Some I know, the rest I can find out from the person I got them from..... When I brought them home, their names became disconnected from them.

Perhaps when I get good pics of them we can play "Catch that 'Cat!!!) :innocent0003:

Later!

So, I wonder, is it true that if you enter a catfish in the fish show this Oct... they will identify it for you?

Seems I read far toooo many rules for the show.

Later,
Marge

Marge, if you have something you want to enter, go to Planet Catfish and make your best guess. If they don't like it they will just change it. Don't sweat it.

The L150's are in a half tap half rainwater mix (6.5 pH). They are fed pretty much anything with samplings of cucumber and squash. The temp is around 78. So far, no activity of spawning nature.
