#of cichlids per gal? How many do you have?

How many african cichlids do you have per gallon in your tanks?

I personally have a 125gal show tank with about 30/32 cichlids (haps/peacocks/mbuna) in it. 20-22 are about 5" and the rest 2-2.5"

The # of fish per gallon rule doesn't work for cichlids (or really any fish in my opinion). While the 125 gallon tank may work out fine with large groups of mbuna, the same couldn't be said for large haps or tangs. Its really about what type of fish you keep.

Well I have a 18" male umbee and his 10-11" female they stay in a 210 with a convict pair male of 4" female of 2" so that's 34" of fish. Or a 6 gallon per inch of fish ratio. I personally think it's crammed for the big male. But I guess it's all a matter of opinion.

It's not tank size as much as filtration and aggression levels.
