OB Tropheus?

Are there OB tropheuses out there? I never saw one or heard they existed. It's kind of premature, but I may have one in my tank. I have 1" juvy tropheus with OB markings. Is this even possible? I will try to take some pics when I can, but this guy is still in full survival mode hiding for the most part between the rocks.

yes there are.... you have a very expensive fish in that tank right now ;)

I know you don't have tons of tanks... but if there is anyway for you to start breeding this fish ... line breeding... I would.

Very rare in the lake and hobby. what variant are the parents?

Interesting .... I am not so sure who the parents are. It's either Moliros or the yellow ones I have. Anyhow, I only have one. So, can you line breed with just one fish? May be you can breed for me since you are the pro. :)

you can breed him/her back to the fish that spawned him/her...

which yellow ones?

Moliro are not known to have OB.... but you never know.

If not, there is a tiny likely hood that they are Bembas, but I seriously doubt it.

Another possibility is that the moliro's crossed with one of them? Sp. red are the worst in terms of crossbreeding. It's why none of my sp . red are in tanks with other trophs other than duboisi ( which are just weird trophs lol )

Crossing is a definite possibility, but I haven't seen any cross breeding activities. I see the two yellow guys (only have two left. The colony of 20 plus got wiped out due to bloats. Actually lost over 30 fish) always trying to do it.

Ok, I am embarrased to say that my so called potentially "expensive" OB tropheus is not a tropheus after all. :blush: I was closely watching the baby this evening, and the OB fish in question was not a tropheus. Who knows who he/she is... As I only have two Red Empress females in my tank, I didn't even think the fry was from one of the two females, but oh well. There goes my retirement plan. :D
