Bout to throw these bad boys in my 55s. the 4ft long one I got on a beach in the Chesapeake Bay. The other I was gifted from a friend. Going to have to boil alot of water to get these guys ready though. Notice the teenie bottlecap bottom right for scale!

Thanks guys. Just did a round of boiling on the 4ftr. Not super effective considering Im just letting each end sit in boiling water in a 5g bucket and then pouring it over the rest of the piece. Any suggestions? I might just throw it in.

I'd just throw it in. Or leave it sit in a big tub of water for a while outside or in the garage.

my concern is trying to boiling out some salt from brackish Chesapeake bay water and tannins. Prolly wont hurt.

I've used the tub before as well. How about a large cooler or extra tank in the back yard?

if it's from saltwater, then soaking in fresh will kill anything living in it... Big trash bag should do it :)
