Mold on my Madagascar Lace Bulb

I bought a Madagascar Lace (Aponogeton madagascariensis) plant at the ECC auction a few weeks ago. I put it in the tank and slowly the leaves melted. This is my fourth bulb, melting leaves has happened every time. I wiped the mold off the bulb and smelled it for rot, then returned the bulb to the tank. The mold reappeared and its not growing any leaves. I added a root tab under the sand where the bulb sat. I went to wipe the mold off yesterday but now it smells like rot. The plant is in the same tank as two other bulbs from HOT. The HOT bulbs are doing well.

Is there anything to do to save the bulb from completely rotting? I pulled out the bulb as I don't want the others to be effected by the mold. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

I have no experience with that plant, but I know other GWAPA members do. You might try posting there. Www.gwapa.org
