Mini auction rule changes.

I would also like to add....

Please try to get your forms turned in before the speaker starts his/her presentation. It is difficult to get them loaded into the computer when the forms are handed in right before the auction is to begin.

Need to add a few things:

1. Properly label the fish! Scientific name, common name, water parameters, maximum size, photo of adult fish would be nice, etc....

2. Make sure the fish being auctioned off have 'some size' to them. There were small fry in the April auction, that is generally frowned upon. For most species, the fish should be about 3/4" in length (minimum).

3. Optional - If selling fish add your forum screen name or email to the bag, so the buyer can contact you with questions.

I'd like to add...Please double bag your fish (not the breather bag types). There were way too many leakers.

Maybe we need a quick session on proper bagging just before the next auction? I think some folks are new to this and may not really understand.

Plus I think we plan to sell fish bags at the meetings. Thus people will be able to 'rebag' fish if needed.

I knew to double bag - and after watching (and helping at times) at fish stores I don't think mine was a leaker - but mine did not have enough air in it.

I would love to see the right way to do it. I tried to blow it up like a ballon - I never was good at that... lol

I will try to put something together that explains how to do a basic bag job. I will try to get pictures (this should be interesting bagging fish at the same time I am trying to take a picture). Give me a couple of days and I will post it on the Forum.

BTW - DO NOT use your mouth to blow into a bag (unless it is a bag of plants). You are putting in more Carbon Dioxide than Oxygen.

Open the bag all the way and close it from the very top. Tightened it working your way down and capturing some air in it. Really should be 1/3 water and 2/3 air.

I think a How to for bagging fish would be a great idea. I have done it a few times and so far just had one leaker. I just do like they do at the LFS lol minus the oxygen. Where is the best place to get the bags and blue pills?
