I think I have detritus worms

IMHO you will never succeed in starving the small white worms or the planaria to death. Their populations will be less but they will still be there and their populations will explode whenever there is any excess food.

Other types of fish do eat these. Ancistrus and gouramis come to mind. You would have to feel comfortable putting either of these in with the FHs.

Neither worm or planaria will cause a problem or disease. They are just unsightly.

Ya frank I was thinking the same thing regarding the population will not completely die out. And I know Gouramies eat them but FH are not a community fish and will kill other fish. So I don't think that is a good option, but I have been thinking of using medication but am not sure of the effect on my fish... But then again I also think who cares cuz I don't see them unless I am really close to the tank.

If you really want to get rid of the unsightly stuff, catch the FHs and put them in a spare tank. Then clean and either use a cup of clorox or saturated salt solution to disinfect the tanks and anything else associated with it including filters and rocks and sand and wood. I prefer the saturated salt solution as it is instantaneous and residual does not affect the tank when you refill, in fact you probably do not need to rinse out the salt just drain out as much as you can and refill. Planaria and any worm can only last about a minute in contact with saturated salt solution, so give it just the time it takes you to wipe down all surfaces with the solution, which should be more than enough time to kill the unsightlies.
I did write an article on this which is on my website.
