Holes In Head On New Fish

I think he looks better too, Bobby. It could just be because his color is up & he looks much perkier, but if he's eating well, that's probably a good sign too, eh?

Like I keep saying, he's fine except for the complexion. The hole s may not be as deep. But they are still there in large numbers.

Nothing to worry about. Salt it down to make sure the "craters" aren't infected. I have had problems like this in peacocks and from my experience they were genetic mutations. HITH disease would show signs of lateral sunken lines, especially at the head or temple, so I doubt that is what this is. If you look closely at fry you can see craters on their heads also. You have nothing to worry about as they could have been caused by another fish fighting with him, coral being imbedded in his face, and so on...

I'm resurrecting this thread because of an interesting observation I have recently made.

Perhaps the A. Lwanda has this "volcanic complexion" as part of it's genus characteristic? And doesn't look so obvious as it get's more mature.

Hey Richard, that was an excellent read. You would of thunk someone would have picked up on that when I first posted. Good research dude.

Btw, the above head shot is not my Lwanda. I was doing some work for the ACA Convention photos when I noticed the pores on this very impressive BEST OF SHOW fish...
