Heater(s) for 180

Im trying to find some nice heaters for my upcoming 180 gallon malawi hap tank. Does anyone have any suggestions/recommendations for a tank of this size?

Thanks

Warmth

Jaegers are solid/enduring, really like and have had good results with the Fluval M-series with the mirrored finish as well. Pair of 200/300s in opposite ends should do you right depending on how high above ambient/room temp you need/want to go. No difference in price in Fluval sizes (maybe $0.25) - Kens Fish is really inexpensive.

I just set up my 160 gallon and I'm running a jager 300 in display and a 50 in my sump and they keep the tank at a good temp

Why not put both in your sump? Then there's no chances of heater burns or the fish breaking the heater.

I think it is always best to have two heaters that are less than half of the required. Who know what the required wattage really is; IMO the manufacturers suggested wattage is always way too high, you can actually get the desired temp with less than half of what they recommend, unless you are doing water changes with cold water or are trying to heat 15 or 20 degrees above the room temperature.
The basic reasoning for using two undersized heaters is the potential failure of a heater. If undersized by about half, and the heater fails on, it is not likely to cook the fish. If the failed heater fails off, then the other heater will keep the temperature close to where it should be, at least until you notice it.

That's as close to heater gospel as it gets. Good that CCA has a resident sage.

I have two Jager 300W that are 2yrs. old and I have had no problems with them so far, knock on wood. One in each corner overflow chamber. I have them hooked to an extra chiller temp. controller in case one of them sticks wide open.

Bought myself a pair of 250W Jagers for my 180. I wanted to be safe since the tanks in the basement which can get pretty cold.

Thanks for the recommendations
