These guys come from outside the little town of Centurion on the far eastern border of Uruguay (near the Brazilian border / Rio Yaguaron).

There is also a Gymnogeophagus labiatus ("Blue Yerbalito") found at the same spot (little stream) along with the "Red Ceibal" chanchito (and a bunch of other fish). The Arroyo Ceibal (and another that we collected with basically the same fish) flow into the Rio Yaguaron (which forms the border).

Felipe calls the gymnogenys from Arroyo Yerbalito "Quilero." Spencer Jack introduced them to the hobby as "Arroyo Yerbalito," which is how they're most often sold. :)

I went there in 2012 (see thread below 1st page, posts 5, 6, 9, 35) and plan to go there (the East) again next trip.
