Feb BAP Presentations

I talked to a few of you at the meeting the other day and touched on it during the announcements, but wanted to add more detail here.

At February's meeting, a portion of the presentation will be given by last year's BAP participants. Not only will this be a chance to share hard-earned information about your fish with your fellow club members, but also a chance to earn bonus points towards your 2013 total!

Here's all that you have to do:

  1. Volunteer! Either on this thread or via PM to me, tell me that you want to do it and which fish your presentation will profile.
  2. Put together a quick Power Point presentation on one of your 2012 BAP-registered spawns. Nothing fancy... about 5-10 minutes worth of content is all we're looking for. Videos would be great, but certainly not necessary. Pics are a must (even if you don't have pictures of the fry). Good info could include the following:
    • Where did you get the fish?
    • How long did they take to mature?
    • Tank size/decor/roommates and special water parameters?
    • Breeding/rearing behavior?
    • Any funny stories?
  3. Get to the February meeting early (1:15-1:30) so that we can load your presentation/videos onto the club laptop. This will help us move through the presentations and minimize downtime.
  4. Get your bonus BAP!
See, simple as that. As another bonus, you'll get practice speaking for the club (we have a lot of very knowledgeable and fun folks out there who could totally give a talk!). You'll also have the added benefit of having a captive audience, allowing you to show folks just how awesome your fish are! Shoot, bring in some of the featured fry and we'll auction them off first after the presentations!

Have a Mac and not a PC? We'll figure that out.

We're going to limit it to one fish per person and limit total presentations to about 6, so get signed up now!

This sounds like a fun idea. Will it be a reoccurring theme? I just discovered a young female Pundamillia Igneopinnis with swollen puffy cheeks in my school CARES tank. I'd be interested in a future presentation.

One thing that I didn't mention that Matt C brought to my attention - remember that this not only includes cichlids, but also any catfish that you may have turned in a for for last year. Thanks Matt!

So far, we have:

  • Jesse - Copadichromis borleyi
  • Matt Chambers - Corydoras C123
How's that for instant variety? Thanks guys!

We'll definitely be doing this again down the road, so make sure you get your paperwork turned in, Shawn. :)

Last chance to get in on this.

We have room for one more if they really want in on the action.

Just a reminder, I'd like to have everyone's talks on the presentation laptop before the meeting starts so that we can have them all queued up and ready to go. Also if you'd like me to confirm that your talk runs on it before the meeting, please send me a pm and we'll figure out a way to check it.
