Critter tank

Has anyone had luck using a supposedly critter tank to be an aquarium? some were made to hold turtles and such, but is it okay to be used as an aquarium? will resealing help? some internet sources have had luck keeping fish in a terrarium.. anyone on the forum have input on this?

I think they are a great option for temporary tanks. However they seem to be easy to crack, compared to an aquarium.

I think the big difference is they are made with thinner glass. If you read the manufacturer's instructions, I'm sure they say not to use them for aquariums. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. I cracked a 10 gallon. I can't imagine dumping 40 gallons on the floor.

As Jon said, they are made of a thinner glass and a different grade of sealent. I would not risk it.

manufacturers instructions say that if filled to top tank MAY warp.. i left the tank outside filled to the top with water.. I have no idea what will happen to about 20 gallons or so tomorrow.. some have used it for fry.. is that what you mean as a temporary tank?

I think he means temporary tank as in place for new fish who you are still setting up their tank, and maybe even quarantine.

Sorry I misread the original post. I thought you meant the Kritter Keepers which go up to about 5 gallons.

Any bigger and I would stick with something built to be an aquarium.
