Considering replacing my filter

I have a fluval 404 that was bought when the model first came out. It's now at the point where replacing all internals doesn't quiet it down. I'm considering either the new fluval 307/407 or an Oase 350 Thermo.

For those of you running the fluval '07 series who had older models in the past, is it considerably quieter than the older models?

For those of you running the Oase canisters with the heater, are you encountering any problems?

I went ahead and replaced the fluval 404 with the fluval 307. I'm glad I did. It is nearly silent in comparison and moves water well.

I know a guy who had an old 404 that started making a lot of noise, and he upgraded to a 307 (dunno why, I would have gone with a 407). He says its a lot more quiet.
