Circulation pump

Do my cichlids need a circulation pump? I only have a 40g. Or will my Emporer 400 be enough

I would say yes. They like the current..... get a air stone also. Cichlids love to play in bubbles.... also is quite amusing. Nice tank set up btw

As of now I have a Red Shoulder/German Red hybrid, Bengal Sunshine, Frontosa, Julie Dickfeldi and Julie Kipili Yellow, Synodontis Multi, & Bristlenose pleco. Everyone of the are juvis and will be put into my future setup of 75g's. I am running an Emperor 400, a 150w heater, and Koralia Hydor 425 circulation pump now.

is the fish to the left of the front the red hybrid?

No this is the re hybrid. You can't really tell from pic, but he has this really bright red through out his whole body but more concentrated on his shoulder. This photo does him no justice. The cichlid you pointed out is a sunshine of some sort. I need it to color up just a little more. I thought Baenschi, but not really blue. It's more of a purple-ISH like lemon Jake without so much aggression. What do you think?
