Any suggestions on how to adjust my P&S Canon and what mode it should be in?

I was at Mike and Francine's workshop and I remember taping up the flash, but I didn't quite get the instructions on the point and shoot cameras.

Thanx in advance,

Richard

The underwater mode is not the way to go. I do not know what it is doing, but the colors are way off. If you shoot with the flash off, you need a lot more light over the tank (the colors look the best in this mode). When using flash, diffuse it with tissue (like in the photo below). This is a perfect example about why I said to take it off Auto. The camera has chosen a slow shutter speed (the fish is blurry and out of focus) and an open aperture (not enough of the fish is in focus - although it is not as bad as it could be).

Richard, you can go to the above site and get a lot helpful facts about your camera.

I would suggest using the "macro" mode. Also make sure your white balance is set on "auto".

Follow the instructions Mike suggested and use the flash with the tissue applied. Remember to hold the camera still after you take your shot.

The next suggestion I would make is....GET A DSLR!!!

Thinking about the underwater mode today, I think the camera adds a bunch of red since that is the first wavelength of color to get blocked as it passes through water. BTW, that is why a lot of deep water fish are red - in a sense it makes them invisible.

Wager.....what could a turtle want from a turkey? Not much, other than a cracked shell.....I hear turtle meat is so SOFT......they definitely did a number on our quarterbacks......right now its the wide receiver slated to start and a tight end as the backup unless one of the two true quarterbacks gets healthy before next Thursday.....amazing how bad our offensive line really is.....but not bad considering 77 of the 109 guys that have worn jerseys this year are sophomores and freshmen.....
