For our new members:

A box exchange is a program we started a while back. We contact another cichlid club and exchange a box full of fish with each other. All fish from both clubs are donated. Tyically there are 12+ bags of fish in each box sent. Then we auction the box/fish the other club sent off.

----------------

Start figuring out what you would like to donate....

Ok in May 09 we will be exchanging boxes with.... wooo hooo !!!! ....

The Pacific Coast Cichlid Association

If you don't know this club..... well, they have some fantastic fish.

They have said they will be sending stuff like :
Lamp minutus, O. boops nkondwe is., S. polli, Hap ruby green, maybe foai sibwesa, Lamp lemarii, young spilonotus breeding group, etc.. who knows really..

I don't want to send crap back.... these are top notch fish.

Their meeting is the same day ours is.... so it should work out great!!!

If I have an over abundance of donated fish like last time, I will pick and choose what will be sent. We will meet, most liekly, the Friday or Thursday before the meeting to get the fish into the box.

All fish must be at least 1 inch in size, no larger than 2 inches.

Thank you for setting this up Sarah.

Ladies and gents these are always fun. Sometimes we get stuff you don't see around here and at the minimum we get new blood.

Please also make these fish in groups or pairs. No single fish.

Thank you in advance.

Rach... sorry. Only cichlids and cats. Thank you though !! There just isn't enough room in the box for the fish let alone snails etc.

It's still aways away. Think on it... ponder what you want to donate that will help the other club vary their selection.

I would really like to try and send rare... not common fish. That is what they are trying to do for us. And knowing their members, they will send rare fish !!

Like Sarah said,
Basically we box up some cool stuff and we pay for the shipping. The other club does the same thing.
The fish are auctioned off at the meeting and the money goes to the club.
So it costs us shipping. And of course a bunch of hard work by Sarah and anyone that helps her. The club benefits from the sale if it goes over the shipping and the members get new fish and blood.

The big thing like she said is that we donate good stuff like they will or we wont be able to do it again with them

Wow. Awesome idea.

Hmm. I don't have many "rare" or "uncommon" fish, but would some apisto. triple red's be good enough?
That is if my pair breeds by that time.

Guys I don't need to know right this minute :) Just wanted to let everyone know that it is going to happen in May.

When it gets closer I will post again and let eveyone know where to meet me if they want to donate fish. If you are unsure of what to donate, message me. Last time we probably had twice the amount of fish we needed or could fit in the box. If that is the case again, I will be a bit picky.

ps... I will also do a quick lesson on how to ship fish the day I collect the fish. Just the basics....
