Are you sure they aren't petricola or lucipinnis? They are generally the egg layers that like those contraptions. Multipunctatus are known as 'Cuckoo catfish' because they use other fish to mouthbrood their young, so they require a host fish.

exactly. Lucipinnis are egg scatterers. Multipunctatus require a host.

Additionally, most Petricola in the hobby are actually Lucipinnis. I was told at one of the past catcons that if the spots on their head are smaller than the ones on their body, then they're Lucipinnis. If their spots are the same size, then they're Petricola. True petricola are very rare, if they even exist in the hobby at all.

Reed, do you have any details you can provide on the spawning hut? Looks like a nice design.
So I bought them as multis and keep them with my z rock group and no luck. After I put them in the tank alone with the spawning hotel they spawned. So the must be lucipinnis. I provide another post or video on the spawning hotel. Also I only like sell hybrids to Shawn :cool::cool:
