I've had rainbow cichlids spawn many times and have even raised a bunch and brought them to auction....but I haven't bap'ed them yet! I moved several into a different tank a few days ago and saw this yesterday...

Seriously underrated and one of my favorites. I call them my peacekeeper fish. I can put them in with anything and they don't start fights, they bring out the best in other shy fish and can distract but outrun more aggressive fish.

Ideal fish for a Central American community...or even a community tank with fish large enough not to eat. Colorful, relatively peaceful but can hold their own, fascinating breeding behavior, don't get too big...nearly bulletproof. Mine breed regularly and I just don't pull the eggs.

I recently shipped a pair of mine to the Midwest and another to the Northeast...
