BAP: Enterochromis paropius

I stripped a lucky 13 eggs (18, but 5 were infertile) from a female today. I was hoping they'd already hatched, but it looks like I got my timing off by a couple days.

In the end, only 4 eggs hatched. The good news is all 4 fry are now big enough that I've moved them to a breeder box.

i Can’t seem to get a good picture of the females, but I think that would be telling. I was always confused because the males have shown vertical striping at timea

I have 3 of these little guys still growing out. I've seen other females holding but have not managed to catch them to strip them. I do think they're probably Enterochromis paropius - the colors show up if I shine a bright flashlight on them. Now if I could just hold a flashlight and take a picture at the same time.

So, as I've long suspected (but hadn't managed to confirm)these are NOT Enterochromis paropius. Per Peter George and Michael Liu, they actually look to be Yssichromis piceatus. I deposited some of the latest group of fry with Lisa at Super Cichlids this week in hopes of spreading them around and maybe getting a definitive ID on them. I did see some real Enterochromis paropius there, and they're lovely fish, but definitely NOT these. Lately I always have at least one female holding and the spawns have been larger.
