BAP: Apistogramma species Totoya

I got four of these fish on an import about, oh, four weeks ago. They're an undescribed species, and I admit that I don't know much about them. They appear to be pretty new, and look to be in the Cacatuoides group. Unfortunately, the sex ratio is a little less than ideal, but I guess it could be worse with only four fish! Three males and one female. They went into a 15-gallon, and wound up being the only fish in the tank. The tank has one of my homemade caves, as well as one from South Central Cichlids. The female chose mine, just showing you there's no accounting for taste.

She also picked the smallest, ugliest male, which just shows that there's hope even for me. Also goes to show why you should let cichlids (including Apistos) pick their own mate -- they might not choose the one you would! He's been guarding the cave for a few days, while she's turned bright Apisto yellow. Today, she emerged with about 12-15 fry. The only other fish in the tank are the other males.

I'm expecting to receive 30 more of them, which will hopefully have a few more females to round out the group with (though they're not likely going into this tank).
