Noticed this coming from his eye. Moved him to a quarantine tank and started frequent water changes with salt. First pic makes it look worse than what it is. Looks like 2 white strings coming out of his eye. What do you think it could be?

Looks like a parasite. Is it hard amd sturdy or soft and..... wormy??? Possible heavy daily doses of pimafix if not ive had success with seachem paraguard. He looks healthy otherwise, does it seem to bother him? meds are tough, I always wait for last resort just can't wait to long then its an up hill battle. I am no expert but I'd try the pimafix and salt for a few days or untlil you notice a change for the worse.

Humm.....if it were me I would cut it off of them and treat it with pinta racemosa oil the stuff in Pimafix. I would treat the area directly. I've never had a fish with some thing like that but that would be my first course. I would also treat the tank with salt.

All I can say is its soft and it's two separate pieces. I've never encountered anchor worms so i confirm or deny that's what it is. I'll have to pick up some pimafix and see if that helps. I'll update you guys with any progress in the next couple of days. Thanks for the suggestions

Anyone have any thoughts on Prazi-Pro? Or is that just for internal parasites?

I think this is the same weird-a** fungus my emperor tetras had. Of course, I thought it was worms, couldn't manage to get rid of them, and iced them, all to find out that if it IS that, it goes away on its own.

The stuff grows inside the fish and becomes visible when it's close to the skin. It just has to run its course. It looks like a worm, but doesn't move at all. It will grow/get bigger, but it's not something you can see squiggling around like a worm would.

Glad to hear it disappeared. How is the fish doing now? Is he healing or was there some sort of a relapse (or spreading to tankmates?)

No sir I was dosing 1 drop per 10 gallons. I can't remember what Sam said as far as dosage but that is what I do. Keep in mind the pimafix is a1% solution when you buy it. This is straight concentrate. It will knock your fish in the dirt if you over dose them. And I have come close before.

Well sad to say, it came back. This time it's coming out the rear of the eye. It seems to come out then fall off. I have no idea what it is. He's eating just fine and behaving normal. I have him alone in a 30 for now.

That's kind of freaky. Would you be able to take video/pictures if it appears again? I'm curious to take a look at it.
