Advice on tank and stand

Anyone ever install a "euro brace" on a tank? Any other ideas on reinforcing the top of a tank? When building a stand to support almost 1500 pounds are dado joints best, are open dado joints stonger than closed?

Isn't a eurobrace what the acrylic tanks usually have? Like almost closed tops?

I just heard the term for the first time basically its a brace either in the middle or every third that's made of the same material as the tank in my case glass. It simply connects the front pane to the back decreasing the tendancy for the glass to bow. Its attached with silicone. Most newer tanks have them but its a part of the plastic trim piece around the top

Do you already have the tank? Does it not have a manufactured top brace?

Whatever was initially designed and included is probably best.

I would think Eurobraces are something that have to be built into the tank design... otherwise, I am not certain how you would connect the glass braces to the tank.

I have the tank it is a 125 with half inch glass I purchased with a split seam I removed all silicone and resealed. Maybe I'm just paranoid bit as a renter on a second floor a leak is not really an option. Its an older tank that's built very strong but the seam split caused the top trim to split in the same corner I just want to rest assure (literally) knowing I won't wake up to a flood

If it were me, I'd take (precise) measurements of the inside and outside of the glass and look online for a standard-size plastic frame with 1-2 center braces.

My very old, very heavy 6' 150 I got from Chris a few years back had to be resealed - and was designed to not have any cross braces... it's almost scary how much the glass bows at the top. But it was designed to do that.
