So, mulling over options for the 75 gallon in my bedroom. What showy species would pair nicely in there for life and not kill each other? Just soliciting some ideas. Thanks.

Cuban cichlids seem like a good fit, I would think. Not sure any breeding pair of cichlids could be considered a lock to not kill each other, though.
