I couldnt find pool filter sand, just went with play sand and A LOT of rinsing. Wow is that crap dirty. But everythings clear now and it was worth it.

Im very jealous...i think. A tank that big would be wild but i almost feel like water changes would be hell. What do you do about hood/lighting?

I don't dont like the way most pfs looks, too light, in the process of trying to find garnet sand, if not ill go with black sand. For lighting I have 400w of power compact with glass tops, will build an canopy outta plywood soon enough

Wow... never thought of that! I wonder if they are just placed in there, or if they are siliconed down?

They look like 12"x12" slate tiles. Probably just laid in the bottom of the tank. It's a nicer look than a bare bottom IMO, but I still prefer a more natural look.

That's the only brand I've seen locally and I can't find any pictures or anyone using that brand, the garnet sand however looks great as substrate and fish colors really pop on it

Nice. I'm interested to see how it looks with a light tile substrate. Put up some full tank shots when you are ready.
