I've had 2 types of Dicrossus spawn in the last week- 2 female maculatus in a 20 long were guarding eggs/fry and one female dicrossus in the 33 is guarding eggs. I pulled some freeswimming maculatus fry to a breeder box and so far, so good. The last batch got eaten after 2 weeks. I'm not sure...

Lots of spawning activity with the warmer temperatures and a couple of weekends of large water changes. I never get tired of watching cichlid parents tend their spawns...although I wish I had more (empty) tanks to raise and grow fry. As it is, whatever survives in the tank is what survives...

It seems to be difficult to get folks to check spawns because of the distances that we all live from one another. I would propose to the BAP Chairman to allow video or photo for the initial required report of a spawn. However, I think this would open the door for the cheating kind to pull one...
