Looking for a canister filter for a 220 gallon tank. My preference would be a Fluval FX5 or FX6, but I would certainly consider other options, depending on make, price and condition.
I do not want anything broken or a sump or wet/dry.
Happy to pickup or pay for shipping. Pics, please...

I have recently set up a number of 40 breeder tanks and have decided to go primarily with Sponge Filters. The tanks will be used mainly for Fry grow out, a breeder group here and there, and quarantine tanks.
What is the guide line for sponge filter size. For my canisters and HOB I go for 10 to...

I have a bunch of Hydro sponge filters, and I'm missing uplift tubes for some of them. Anyone know a good DIY solution to make more? I'm assuming its just a matter of finding the right diameter rigid tubing, but wanted to ask if anyone had found something.
Just curious what brand of sponge filters people use. I see Aqua Top Classics, Hydro Sponge III, and Lee's Filters. I notice some brands make it easy to purchase replacement Sponges. Also what pumps are you using with them?

I've read this page a few different times over the past few days and I'm still not sure. I may end up calling Drs. F + S to ask them to clarify (hopefully it's not a mistake).
I'm looking at upgrading a canister filter and am trying to decide between an Eheim2217, Fluval 406, and one of the...
I have an old "Secondnature Whisper Power Filter" free to anyone who wants it. It's big: has two chambers for filter cartridges and has the number 3 on the cover.
It runs, and pumps a lot of water, but you'd have to supply the filter media. Also, the intake tube is missing the cover, so...
Has anyone use Polyfiber batting material in there HOB filters rather than the cartridges? I've heard that the batting is also an excellent media and is actually a little thicker, more effective, less expensive and lasts significantly longer.
If so, do you still actually need the carbon or...

I have a mix of mostly pool filter sand with a little bit of pea gravel that came out of our 150 gallon fish tank several months ago. It's at least 3 50lb bags worth, though there might be more in there as well, I really don't remember.
We've decided against using it in the metaframe for...
Hey guys, just finished building an overhead trickle filter and figured I'd share for feedback. Anyone else here running overhead filters?

Does anybody have an experiences with pre-washed pool filter sand? Living in a highrise condo without a back yard has me dreading the thought of rinsing 100+ lbs of sand multiple times in my kitchen sink. Where do I buy pre washed sand? How much?
Thanks all!
