Hi everyone! I'm returning to the hobby after about a 15 year hiatus and I can't wait to learn more from this community. I'm located in northern VA so I'm looking forward to attending some events, too.
I am currently working on a 5 gallon planted shrimp tank and I'll probably add some nano...
So as some of you may know by now I breed dwarf cichlids and Apistogramma are my primary focus. While I provide them with soft acidic water I'm curious if anyone knows of a chart or some source that gives exact water specifications for each species?
Anyone have much experience? One of mine has spawned and I'm unsure what to do. Remove them? I have 5-50 micron golden pearls, should I use pipettes to get the food close?
After a year plus hiatus, I finally am getting back into the tanks. Now that I can have a dedicated fish room (garage), I plan to dedicate myself to more variety. I am mostly into smaller cichlids, and one of the fish I am very interested in getting to breed is Apistogramma barlowi. I bought a...

My female A. Panduro is dragging the herself along the substrate. She is eating fine. But she seems unable to generate bouyance with her swim balladder. The last food she was feed before I discovered that was blood worms. I did a 50% water change up the temp and added some salt. The next...
There must be something in the water, LOL, because I noticed that the Apistogramma Macmasteri that are in my 20 high community tank laid about 20 eggs on the underside of an anubias leaf. This is their first spawning, and there are danios and killis in the tank, so we'll see whether the fry...
Back on November 20th, I noticed Apistogramma cacatuoides 'Orange Flash' fry in my 90g planted Discus tank. I was able to count at least six at the time, but they were small (maybe 1/4") and very hard to see.
They are now between 3/8" and 1/2", and are starting to swim all over the tank, not...
