    Plants are dying......

I know this is a very old post, but I thought i would add something concerning the water parameters since this is a cichlis forum. Living in the DC area we have very hard water (duh), great for african cichlids, not so great for plants. I have been working on getting my vallisneria going to...

    Calling all BBA gurus pleeze

"I'm tearing it apart this weekend (in part to catch my aforementioned wiley Bolivians) " Has anyone seen/used/made a small fish trap so you don't have to destroy a tank to remove fish that won't just swim into the net?

    Pea Gravel

That would be good, since they tend to use stuff that won't harm water quality. as long as it does not lower the ph itself I should be fine. The post I saw was something to do with silica being in the pea gravel, but I don't know if this can harm fish.

    Feather Rock?

No problem, I may be going to a secret stash I know of in PA soon, that guy sells it for $0.20 a pound, so I can get a couple of hundred pounds for 50-60 bucks. It looks like I am going to be doing my talk on carving Pumice at the April CCA meeting now, if you want to come see a few tricks.

    Pea Gravel

With all the tanks I got from Ron (Thanks Ron), substrate is now posing itself as a big problem. I was considering using a mix of African Cichlid Mix Congo River 5lb (Carib Sea) http://www.thatpetplace.com/Products/KW/BL...2/Itemdy00.aspx and Pea gravel in a ratio of about 1lbs. Congo to 2 lbs...
