Lurking for a deal?

Good. Better still is to join CCA and become eligible immediately to participate in two current and all future group buys where one can enjoy great discounts on fish and equipment and get exactly what you want. Current group buys are for African cichlids (delivery date TBD) and South American catfish/bottom dwellers (for pick-up at October 13th CCA meeting. The other benefits of joining CCA are too many and glorious to mention, which is to say, considerable and worth every bit of $20/year ($30/families).

+1. Can't begin to express how wonderful it is not only to participate in the forum, but bump that by a few to actually attend the meetings and engage with other members face-to-face! What is it about fish!!!

They have it set up so non club members can't read the group buys. Might be a good idea to change that.

Group buys are only available to club members. Memberships are what keep this club alive and growing. Become a member today, it's only $20.

Thinking he means tease non-members into becoming members by showing what they are missing.

And the teasing into joining actually works once they get a feel for this forum and the wealth of knowledge of the members - ans especially the active members who will constantly be on line answering questions, etc.

Here's a sneak preview of the Group Buys:

One involves a premier source of wild and tank raised African cichlids...

Another is for an amazing source of catfish of all flavors...

It works at House of Tropicals. It used to work at Tropical Fish World before they closed down. I'm not sure where else you tried to use it. If it was somewhere that wasn't a club sponsor, you are right, they wouldn't give you a discount.

Yes, but being able to see what they are is good advertising

That is why I have it set up so that you can see the Members only sections but not read them.

Most clubs have them set up so that a non member do not even see that there is a section there. This is our tease. You get to see there is a section and that there is content but do not get to read the content.

It used to work at a lot of fish stores but with the economy most are gone in the last 4 years or so.
Scales, Totally fish, Tropical Fish World, Exotic Aquatics, just to name a few. Plus a lot of the smaller ones, that are still around, are stuggling enough that they cant afford to do it any more.
I used to go to some of the stores and discuss discounts. Some see the benefit others do not.
We used to have a position, with a person that went to the stores in VA and another in MD to work on the relationship. Something you want a person with the proper skill set to work on. lol

So out of curiosity, are we reaching out to CTE Aquatics yet? Seems if they are ballsy enough to open a store in this economy, they may be prepared to make a deal that would guarantee them more foot traffic?
