Wow, as in what in tarnation is going on here?

Laetacara dorsigera - one of them has a solid jet black cap on one side of its head beginning in the front middle middle and covering the entire area back to and including the gill area. Fish seems fine otherwise.

Possible that I just never noticed as it's in a 40 breeder that is very densely planted. Pulled the Apisto erymnophyge out yesterday to give them their own space and its easier to take stock of everyone remaining during feeding so could be I just never saw it before as I got them as wee little juveniles.

Anybody ever see the like?

Sounds like nerve damage. I've seen it in other larger cichlids.
