Wanted Aquarium Rocks

I am looking to decorate my tank so I need to find somewhere to get large rocks/stone/slate. Does anyone have any for sale? If not, do you know where I can buy them. I would like to try to purchase these from someone as the local fish store is pretty expensive for rocks.

Irwin Stone in Rockville/ Frederick carries a large variety and are not really expansive. Ask them to see their discards as they will usually give these to you for free.

They also carry Pumice, which is great of you are doing a lot of rocks, because it barely weighs anything, and you can carve it with a screwdriver into any shape you want.

I will be giving a talk on this at the Feb. CCA meeting if you are interested in trying it hands-on before buying it.

Up by the fiar grounds ... by where you work there is a querry (sp?)... Last time I was there it was 3 dollars for all the rocks you can hand pick.... it's granit/limestone rock. Quite heavy so you have to be carefull... but it does the job ... white and black in color.

Thanks guys! I was going to try the place by my office but I figured they didn't deal with the public. Are you talking about LaFarge on Padonia Road?

I actually have somewhat of a big piece of Holey Rock I wouldn't mind trading. I think it weighs about 10 lbs and its dimensions are roughly 12"x9"x9". Its the limestone rock that has all the holes in it...holey/honeycomb rock.
